PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION
Members of the Parks and Recreation Commission are appointed by the City Council and serve terms of four years. The Parks and Recreation Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the Council and interprets the leisure-time needs, facilities and services of the citizens of Signal Hill in order to obtain adequate support for recreation programs. The Commission recommends general policies concerning all parks and recreation properties, facilities, plans, programs and activities. The Commission may also recommend a long-range program for the improvement, acquisition and development of parks and recreation facilities.
The Parks and Recreation Commission meets at 6:00 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month in the Council Chambers in City Hall.
A member of the Community Services Department staff serves as the secretary to the Parks and Recreation Commission. All agenda items and reports are prepared by Community Services for review and discussion by the Commission. Questions concerning a Commission agenda item may be directed to Community Services via e-mail or by calling 989-7330. Meeting agenda are posted at City Hall, the Library and Reservoir Park 72 hours in advance of the scheduled meeting. Copies of the minutes are available on this website or in the Community Services Department.
