After School Children Programs


1st - 5th Grades:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Sample of Daily Schedule-Small Groups
In order to better facilitate a strong sense of community within the program, children will be placed in small groups with peers close to their age.  Each group will be referred to as a "Team".  Each team will start the day with a team meeting and then move through the day based on a schedule of activities developed around the children's interests.

Itty Bitty Day Camp
Ages 3 to 5

Itty Bitty Day Camp is designed to provide children 3 to 5 with their first opportunity to enjoy the fun and friendships of day camp.  Trained City staff are on hand to provide encouraging, supportive care for children in a safe and exciting environment.  Children will spend time exploring and discovering.  Children will spend time exploring and discovering.  Children must be potty trained.

Summer Day Camp.png 
ARC Summer Day Camp
K through 5th grade
Weekly Fee: Residents $40 / Non-Residents $50
(Field trips at an additional cost per week)


Signal Hill Summer Day Camp is an exciting traditional day camp program for school age kids that keeps them safe, busy and active during the summer!  Friendly staff members organize activities for kids including games, sports, arts and crafts, science,culinary experiences and more!  Twice a week, youth excursions will be offered for an additional cost.  Pre-registration is required and Signal Hill residents receive priority.  Signal Hill Summer Day Camp is offered at two location Discovery Well Park and Signal Hill Park.  Children entering Kindergarten must have at least six months of experience in a formal preschool setting.  

This year parents may reserve a spot for their child in any of our day camp programs by paying a non-refundable, $10 per week, per child deposit.  The balance of your camp fees must be paid in full by the Wednesday preceding the camp week or your child's spot will be released.

Tween Summer Camp
Tweens entering 6th to 8th grade

During the Tween Summer Camp, kids will get to enjoy games, sports, friendly competitions, Tween reading programs, weekly excursions, and more.  The program has a volunteer component which will provide the tweens with opportunities to give back to their community by doing service projects.  Get out of the house and come on by and check it out!  Registration is required and Signal Hill Residents receive priority.

Junior Recreation Leader Program
Tweens entering 6th to 8th grade
Monday through Friday, July 25th to August 19th
8:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m.

Weekly Fee: Residents $20 / Non-Residents $30
(Field trips at an additional cost per week)


Join our Junior Recreation Leader program this summer break for a real leadership and work experience in our Summer Day Camp program.  Tweens will be paired up with a Recreation Leader staff member to assist with daily camp activities for the first part of the day.  Then, later each afternoon, the tweens will enjoy some fun of their own such as team games, crafts, cooking activities and more.  Register early - space is limited to 12 participants and will be on a first come, first serve basis with residents receiving priority.  For more information call (562) 989-7329.
