Explore the newly remodeled Nixon Library. With nearly 70 new exhibits, 30 unique multi-media  experiences, 11 original films, 12 custom digital interactive, 600 photographs and more than 300 artifacts, the tour of this new presidential museum is sure to be an unforgettable experience. Lunch will be provided.




Santa Anita Races and Lunch
Friday, March 9th
Depart: 11:00 a.m.  Return: 6:00 p.m.
Cost: Residents $30    /  Non-Residents $35
Location: Arcadia

Come take your chances with Lady Luck at the Santa Anita Racetrack.  Join us as we sit at reserved box seats where you will enjoy a meal from any of the Club House Mezzanine Restaurants along with a complimentary craft beer or glass of wine.  Each guest will receive a program for the day and a commemorative glass to take home from the gift store!  A professional handicapper will be on hand to explain racing and assist in making bets.  This will be a day you won't soon forget!

Optional activities extra $20 per person, per activity

Join us as we set sail across the Pacific Ocean to Santa Catalina Island! This trip will be like none other as we make our way to the little island that offers something for everyone. Take an adventure with us by signing up for an optional activity. Children under 2 are free.

Optional Activity 1: Scenic Tour: Discover the enchantment of Avalon on every turn on this 50 minute expedition up the hillsides, along the beachfront and through the heart of downtown in an open air tram.

Optional Activity 2: Glass bottom boat ride: take a look through a window to another world. Catalina is known for its crystal clear waters so be sure to take advantage on a glass bottom boat. This experience will bring the sea right to you without even getting wet!





Excursion Information
Reservations: Trips must be paid by check or cash at the time of reservation. Checks should be made payable to City of Signal Hill. To pay, either come in person or mail check to the Community Services Department, 2175 Cherry Avenue, Signal Hill, CA 90755. 

Waitlist: Trips that fill up will have a waitlist available. All residents will be called from the waitlist before non-residents. After residents have been contacted we will go down the waitlist in numerical order starting with number one. Do not send a check or pay for the excursion unless you are contacted by Community Services staff and told a spot is available for you. 

Parking: Parking for excursions is available in the lot next to the Library, in front of the basketball courts, on the south side of Hill Street, and in the upper parking lot on Legion Drive. 

Departure: For all excursions, please arrive at the Signal Hill Library, 1770 E. Hill Street, 30 minutes prior to departure time. 

Motorcoach Special Requests: Our excursions’ seating is based on a priority system, residents first, any person with a handicap and then non-residents, and are based on when payment is received. We do our best to accommodate special requests, but they are not guaranteed. 

Excursion Cancellation Policy: To receive a refund on any excursion you must contact the Community Services Department at least ten business days prior to the excursion. An administrative fee of $5 will be charged on ALL cancellations. If cancellation is made within ten business days, no refunds or credits are issued. 

Illness on Trips: If you are feeling ill please notify the escort immediately. Please do not leave the group without notifying the escort as to where you are going. Also, a travelling kit is an essential, though what you choose to put in it may depend slightly on your own individual needs. 

Here are some items that you may want to consider taking on the next trip: 
Prescription medications, anti-diarrheal medicine, allergy pills, and pain relievers 
Refreshments: cereal bars, crackers, fruit, water or juice drink 

Please be advised that City staff cannot dispense any medications.
