Hear ye, Hear ye!  All ye Kings and Queens, and Knights and Nobles.  Prepare for an afternoon of Medieval fun!  We will cheer on our tea Knight as he or she battles in jousting, weaponry, horsemanship and falconry.  You will eat like royalty as you enjoy these exciting Medieval exhibitions.  

Avocado Festival
Saturday, October 8th
8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. 
Cost: Residents - Adults $5, Children: Free    /  Non-Residents - Adults $10, Children $3
Location: Carpinteria, CA

The California Avocado Festival is one of the largest festivals on the West Coast.  The festival hosts over 75 musical guests, a children's venue, an arts and crafts venue and the largest vat of Guacamole!  Bring your family and your appetite and enjoy this very green event.

Location: The Richard and Karen Carpenter Center at CSU, Long Beach

Join us for a rock & roll afternoon with Memphis, the Tony winning musical inspired by disk jockey Dewey Phillips.  Exciting dance numbers and catchy tunes will transport you back to the 1950's as we explore this tale of fame and forbidden love.  Prior to the show we will enjoy a barbecue style lunch inspired at a local Long Beach eatery so bring your appetite!

Riverside Mission Inn's Festival of Lights
Tuesday, December 20th

Location: Riverside, CA 

With over three million lights and more than 350 animated figures, The Mission Inn of Riverside is one of Southern California's top holiday destinations.  Upon arrival we will enjoy a guided tour of the inn to explore this National Heritage Landmark and enjoy the festive decorations.  Once we've had our fill of Christmas spirit, we will head on over to the Old Spaghetti Factory for a dinner of Baked Lasagna, Chicken Marsala, and Spaghetti and Meatballs.

Excursion Information
Reservations: Trips must be paid by check or cash at the time of reservation. Checks should be made payable to City of Signal Hill. To pay, either come in person or mail check to the Community Services Department, 2175 Cherry Avenue, Signal Hill, CA 90755. 

Waitlist: Trips that fill up will have a waitlist available. All residents will be called from the waitlist before non-residents. After residents have been contacted we will go down the waitlist in numerical order starting with number one. Do not send a check or pay for the excursion unless you are contacted by Community Services staff and told a spot is available for you. 

Parking: Parking for excursions is available in the lot next to the Library, in front of the basketball courts, on the south side of Hill Street, and in the upper parking lot on Legion Drive. 

Departure: For all excursions, please arrive at the Signal Hill Library, 1770 E. Hill Street, 30 minutes prior to departure time. 

Motorcoach Special Requests: Our excursions’ seating is based on a priority system, residents first, any person with a handicap and then non-residents, and are based on when payment is received. We do our best to accommodate special requests, but they are not guaranteed. 

Excursion Cancellation Policy: To receive a refund on any excursion you must contact the Community Services Department at least ten business days prior to the excursion. An administrative fee of $5 will be charged on ALL cancellations. If cancellation is made within ten business days, no refunds or credits are issued. 

Illness on Trips: If you are feeling ill please notify the escort immediately. Please do not leave the group without notifying the escort as to where you are going. Also, a travelling kit is an essential, though what you choose to put in it may depend slightly on your own individual needs. 

Here are some items that you may want to consider taking on the next trip: 
Prescription medications, anti-diarrheal medicine, allergy pills, and pain relievers 
Refreshments: cereal bars, crackers, fruit, water or juice drink 

Please be advised that City staff cannot dispense any medications.
