How to Join
The Signal Hill Police Department is actively recruiting interested residents for the Community Volunteer Program. If you are 21 years of age or older, we want you to join our team.

Time commitments for Police Department volunteers are as follows:
- 12 hours per month of volunteer time
- Attendance at volunteer meetings
- One year of service
As a police volunteer, you will learn about the Police Department's operations as well as the justice system. You will receive classroom training, field training, and in-service training. Volunteers provide support in the following areas:
- Bicycle registration
- Clerical functions
- Fingerprinting services
- Newsletter creation
- Parking enforcement
- Speed watch
- Vacation watch
Under a new comprehensive program, we strive to involve police volunteers in nearly every area of police services.
Be Proud of Your City
In the past 12 months, volunteers have contributed more than 6,000 hours and driven more than 9,700 miles. In total, the estimated value of the volunteer program to the city for a 12-month period is approximately $200,000.
