Every Tuesday Night in the library beginning January 9
Come watch 2018 Oscar nominated films at the Signal Hill library. This event is free and snacks will be served. Register by calling or visiting the library.

First Friday Book Club (over 18 years)

First Friday of each month, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m
Participants are provided a copy of the books, which alternate between fiction and non-fiction titles, and are discussed. Dessert and beverages are served. (During the new library construction the book club may be held at different locations. Please check with the library for each month’s meeting location.)

 bluVR.jpg Virtual Reality Open House
Wednesday, March 7 2018 from 3-5pm

Swim alongside manta rays, angler fish, and a blue whale – in virtual reality! Wearing a VR headset, you’ll embark on an underwater journey to parts of the ocean few people get to see first-hand. Staff will be on hand to answer questions and talk about the technology and future of virtual reality. Register by calling or visiting library.
Note: The system may cause vertigo and disorientation.

3D Printing at Signal Hill Public Library (All ages)

Orientation class on Monday, March 12, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the library. This orientation session will introduce participants to 3D printing services. Participants must attend the orientation class in order to register for additional 3d printing classes. Class size is limited. Participants under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult/guardian. Register by calling or visiting the library.

March 15, April 19, and May 17

On Game Night, we break out our collection of board games, playing cards, and dominoes and let you and your family have at them. Game Night is for game lovers of all ages! We ask that children under the age of 12 be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Register by calling or visiting the library.

National Library Week April 9 to April 14

Celebrate National Library Week with the theme, “Libraries Lead.” April is designated as National Library week to celebrate all that libraries offer to their guests – from books to computers to story times to thought-provoking programming for all ages! Signal Hill Public Library is a vibrant community hub and we invite you to join us in this celebration by coming to the library for the events we will have scheduled during the week.

Friday, April 13 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Each year Signal Hill Friends of the Library receives thousands of donated books, audio tapes, CDs, DVDs and records which we in turn resell to the public. All profits benefit the Signal Hill Public Library.

Saturday, May 5, 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Come have some fun and recreate Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh. All material and snacks will be provided. Register by calling or visiting the library.

E-book Help
Tuesdays 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. and Wednesdays
10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Signal Hill Library Staff will help you download
e-books from the library. You will need to bring your
own device (e-reader, laptop, or tablet) and know
your passwords and usernames. Register by calling 562-989-7323 or
visiting the library.

Signal Hill Social Club
Join us at the Signal Hill Public Library for a morning of games, coffee, and conversation. Bring your friends to the Signal Hill Social Club, a club for active adults ages 55 years and older.
