Discovery Well Park Improvement Project

The City of Signal Hill has initiated the Discovery Well Park Improvement Project, which includes replacement of the playground equipment and swings, resurfacing of the basketball half-court, and installation of a pickleball court.  This page will provide updates and information on the project, including the project’s timeline and upcoming actions.

Approved Budget: $502,000
January 2022City Council authorized staff to appropriate the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funding for the rubberized playground surfacing, under Section 1 of the project components.CDBG: $86,002

March 15, 16, 18, & 19, 2022Community Input Meetings held at Discovery Well Park
May 2022City's Budget Workshop for Fiscal Year 2022-23 was held, which included the Discovery Well Park Improvements Project as a  part of the Capital Improvement Project (CIP) Reserve BudgetProposed CIP Reserve Budget: $230,998
July 2022Parks and Recreation Commission provides feedback and input on the prioritization of design elements based on the feedback from the Community Input Meetings.
October 25, 2022City Council approves entering a public works contract with Playcore Wisconsin, Inc., dba GameTime for construction of the Discovery Well Park playground equipment improvement project.
Spring 2023Installation of Playground Equipment.
