The Signal Hill Police Department is committed to providing continuous service to the community. Our first priority will always be public safety, and we are open and fully operational. The City of Signal Hill is under the jurisdiction of the L.A. County Department of Public Health, and we are committed to following all directives and guidance from County, State, and Federal health officials.
The Signal Hill Police Department continues to remain open to the public to ensure continuing operations. However, we are implementing temporary protective measures to keep the public and our Signal Hill Police Department personnel safe and healthy.
We highly encourage residents to consider conducting business with the Police Department in a manner that encourages social distancing.
- Our Police Station lobby is still open for business. However, if you are ill, considered high-risk, or have been potentially exposed to a sick person, we ask that you refrain from visiting the Signal Hill Police Department at this time. When entering the lobby, please stay six feet apart from our employees and other individuals inside the building.
- If you have non-essential business or general questions, please consider calling SHPD at 562-989-7200 or e-mail watchcommander@signalhillpd.org in lieu of an in-person visit to the police station. We can help take care of your question or issue over the phone or via e-mail.
- Parking citations can be paid online at paymycite.com or by calling 800-300-9915. If you wish to contest a parking citation, please call us and we can e-mail you the correct form.
- When a caller requests Police Department services, SHPD dispatchers will be asking additional questions related to the health of the persons involved. This is to ensure our officers can appropriately respond to the situation with personal protective equipment if necessary.
- With some exceptions, most police reports will be taken over the phone to limit unnecessary in-person contact.
The Signal Hill Police Department is closely monitoring the City’s retail establishments. We encourage all residents to shop normally. There is no need to stock up with large amounts of essentials, as our retailers’ supply chain is intact. We encourage all shoppers to follow store policies related to item limits. Please remember to follow social distancing protocol when out shopping.
We will be suspending parking tickets for street sweeping through the end of the month. We recognize we are dealing with unusual circumstances and will be flexible and accommodating. Although we will not be issuing tickets, please do your best to provide a clear path for the sweeper because street sweeping is key to our community’s health, safety, and storm/stormwater management.
