Independence Day is approaching! The Hilltop area will be closed to all non-residential vehicular traffic beginning at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 4. Residents should expect to see “No Parking” signage and barricades prior to the holiday weekend. Street parking on the Hilltop will be limited on July 4, and illegal street parking will be enforced.
On Sunday, July 4, vehicle and pedestrian access will be restricted to the Signal Hill Hilltop area and surrounding areas from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. During these hours, only residents and their pre-approved guests may access the Hilltop area at one of two checkpoints, with proof of residency. Screening areas will be located at 21st Street and Junipero Avenue and on Temple Avenue at 20th Street. There will be multiple road closures and restricted access points around the Hilltop area:
Hilltop residents and guests may enter at two designated checkpoints:
Hilltop residents who are having guests should contact SHPD Sergeant Russ Hefte at email@example.com with their name, address, and number of guests. Please contact Sgt. Hefte if you have questions related to the July 4 closures and restrictions.
Please consider viewing area fireworks displays at the event itself, as Hilltop space is extremely limited. We would like to remind everyone that the possession, sale, and discharge of all types of fireworks, including "Safe and Sane" fireworks are prohibited within the City of Signal Hill, and laws will be enforced. The Signal Hill Police Department is committed to providing a safe environment for residents and visitors on July 4th.
