1. What is your minimum building permit fee?

The minimum building permit fee is $73.00, plus applicable taxes and fees. Permit fee is based on the valuation of the project.

2. Can I pay for building permits with a credit card?

The City of Signal Hill now accepts credit card transactions. Payments for building permits can be in the form of cash, check, money order or credit card with valid government issued identification.

3. What Chapter of the Signal Hill Municipal Code (SHMC) can I find the Oil Code?

The Oil Code is found under Title 16 of the SHMC. You can access the SHMC on our main page by clicking the "Municipal Code" tab.

4. Can I view building permit history online?

The City of Signal Hill does not have building permit history online. Permits for individual property must be viewed in person by coming in to City Hall during regular business hours. Copying is available at .30 cents a page for the first 30 pages and .20 cents thereafter.

5. Do I need a permit to have a garage sale?
