Come join Signal Hill's finest men and women! The Signal Hill Police Department is recruiting to fill Dispatcher/Jailer positions immediately.

The Police Department Communications Bureau operates with state-of-the-art equipment, including a computer aided dispatch system and an 800MHz trunked radio system. As a Dispatcher, you will receive state-certified classroom training and ongoing in-service training in order to maintain a high level of competence. The temporary detention facility, classified as a Type 1 Jail, is staffed 24 hours a day by Jailers. Signal Hill is unique in that our Dispatchers are cross-trained as Jailers, and receive ongoing training sponsored by the Board of State and Community Corrections.

This full-time position comes with a robust benefits package: medical, dental, vision, and life insurance (employee premiums paid by the City), 96 hours of vacation and 96 hours of sick leave accruals per year in addition to 80 hours of paid holiday and 36 hours of personal holiday, CalPERS lifetime retiree medical benefit eligibility calculated based on employee’s years of service, and more.
