Congratulations to all of the honorees at the 2018 Volunteer and Sponsor Recognition Banquet, held at the Salvation Army Long Beach on January 17.

  • Celebrated Business Sponsor: Big E Pizza / Jimmy Eleopoulos
  • Valued Volunteer Organization: Jessie Nelson Middle School Interact Club
  • Community Volunteers of the Year: Judi Williams & Chuck Pierce, and Terry Rogers
  • Outstanding Youth Volunteer of the Year: Jakarta Robinson

Our annual Volunteer and Sponsor Recognition Banquet is our opportunity to recognize local individuals, groups and businesses for their contributions to City of Signal Hill programs and services over the past year.  Thanks to this support, the Community Services Department held a variety of programs and events throughout the year:

  • More than 2,000 people attended the our annual Spring Fest and more than 3,000 attended our Halloween Carnival. These events provide fun, low cost opportunities for families to get outside and enjoy some time in our beautiful parks while enjoying holiday activities.
  • At the Signal Hill Public Library, more than 1,000 children attended story time activities, summer reading, classes and other library programs. These programs build an early love of reading and help connect children and families to the many resources available at the Library.
  • Our Community Development Department, in partnership with the Sustainable City Committee, hosted three successful Mayor’s Clean-Up events with over 100 community members participating.
  • Through our partnership with the Signal Hill Community Foundation, an estimated 4,000+ people attended this summer's Concerts in the Park.
  • With the help of Signal Hill Petroleum, we showed three Movies in the Park to over 600 guests.

Thank you to all of our sponsors and volunteers who work tirelessly and give generously to enrich the lives of Signal Hill's residents.
