Fun and educational activities and events will be throughout the day, including art, special story times, and live entertainment. Event Schedule:
- 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.: Meet Author Briantria Smocks & Storytime
- Come meet Briantria Smocks, Editor of the Levi & Toonk series. She will read from her Levi & Toonks Series: All About Me, where Levi gradually discovers more about the world around him, including his sidekick and alter-ego, Toonk.
- 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.: African Drum Circle
- Enjoy this colorful and exhilarating journey into the world of African rhythms, songs, and stories. Children and family audiences can participate in this lively presentation as either part of the drum circle with CHAZZ, African drumming extraordinaire.
- 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.: African Art Painting with Ms. Tori *This event requires pre-registration and is for ages 16+. Please call the Library to register.
- In honor of African-American History Month, paint a silhouette of a vibrant African Tribal Mask. All materials will be provided and all skill levels are welcome.
- 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.: Movie: Harriet (PG)
- Harriet tells the extraordinary tale of Harriet Tubman’s escape from slavery and transformation into one of America’s greatest heroes. Her courage, ingenuity, and tenacity freed hundreds of slaves and changed the course of history.
