Summer Reading Program

“Reading Colors Your World!” will take place from June 26 through August 21 via SHPL's website. The eight-week summer reading program is available to children, teens and adults. Participants can register online using the library’s digital summer reading platform, a web and mobile-friendly application that allows users to log their reading and activities, unlock achievements and discover new books.  Broaden your reading horizons and earn a chance to win awesome prizes!

Come discover and rate new teen books at the library. Teens will review a selection of staff picked books, comment, and discuss the latest books and authors in Young Adult fiction. Learn basic yoga poses and meditation techniques then sample some delicious and healthy smoothies! Please wear clothing you can move around in and bring a yoga mat or beach towel. Healthy Dog Treats 101 with Chef Ollie

Thursday, August 5, 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  

Make a box of dog treats using humanely sourced ingredients, grain and soy free, with recipe and instructions by Chef Ollie! Please leave your fur babies at home.  Free for ages 16+ Space is limited. Call 562-989-7323 to reserve your space.

Connecting with an online tutor is easy and free. You just need a library card and a computer or mobile device with internet access. Help is available everyday from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. for K-12 students and adult learners.

K-12 Homework Help

Students (and parents!) can get help in math, science, English, social studies and writing. Professionally trained and experienced tutors work online with students in grades K-12 and adult learners. Online tutoring is also available for AP level class work and intro-level college coursework. The student and tutor communicate in a virtual classroom with chat and two-way white boards.
